What does the 0.6.41 unlock fix change?
Concerned Parent is one of the five characters included at the Early Access launch. If you met the requirement but the character stayed locked, patch 0.6.41 includes a fix for that specific problem. Team Lazerbeam says affected players should see the character unlock after completing their first run following the update.
This is recovery for an acknowledged unlock bug. It is not a statement that every new save unlocks Concerned Parent after any single run. A new player still needs to check the actual requirement displayed in the installed game. Keep normal progression separate from the repair of progress that failed to register.
Compare the character requirement with your actual progress
Read the locked character’s requirement before planning another run. Keep a record of what the game currently displays and what you have already completed. An achievement appearing and a character becoming selectable are separate results to check.
If you have completed the displayed objective but the character remains unavailable, record both states. Repeating an unrelated boss fight or chasing a hidden reward is not a confirmed repair for the acknowledged bug.
Follow the recovery step after updating
The September 22, 2026 patch notes explicitly address existing players who could not unlock the character. Confirm that your installation includes 0.6.41 or a later update, then complete your first run after that update and inspect the character selection again.
The wording in the notes is “complete your first run after the update.” It does not specify a universal requirement to win that run, die deliberately, delete a save or restart progression. Those would be additional instructions and are not part of the confirmed recovery step.

If the character is still locked
If the character is still locked, record the installed version and whether the displayed requirement is fulfilled. Note that you completed a run after the update, then describe the state of the character selection. An achievement message and a selectable character are two different results, so include both when they disagree.
Also note whether the same save unlocks other characters normally. A screenshot of the requirement and the result after the run makes the problem easier to reproduce. Keep your progress intact while gathering that information; a destructive save reset is not part of the developer’s published recovery instruction.
Send the details to the game’s bug forum
The developer asks players to use the Steam Bug Reports forum so issues can be tracked. Describe the expected unlock, the result you saw, and the steps leading up to it. Include your game version and whether the problem also affects other characters.
Keep a fix announcement separate from a workaround suggested by another player. This guide does not prescribe deleting a save, editing game files or carrying a particular hidden card to force an unlock.
What makes Concerned Parent different?
The developer’s pre-release character demonstration presents Concerned Parent as a character built around card draw and mood effects. Parental Instinct creates Hysterical Strength, and further draws strengthen its Rage effect in that demonstration. Dad Reflexes and Mama Bear illustrate how the character turns a fuller hand into an aggressive turn.
That overview explains the playstyle, rather than the unlock route. When you can select the character, read the current starting decks and base Foresight together; a pre-launch demonstration is not a substitute for the effects on your own cards.
